Morepork - Maori name Ruru The call of the Morepork is a typical sound of the bush at night. It is quite easy to imitate it’s mournful cry of "morepork" by whistling, which sometimes brings them close. The Morepork is one bush bird that has succeeded in living close to people. It even enters city gardens where there are tall trees for shelter. It’s flight is completely silent and it can catch it’s prey without the warning sound of flapping wings. |
